The Third Leg of the Race

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the third leg of the Amazing Mutant Race 3. Last week we saw our ten teams race towards Smallville, Kansas where they had to sell $10 worth of lemonade. Once done, they then hurried to Springfield where they had to chose between either helping the GI Joe team rescue captured scientists or devise a world beating plan for the sinister Cobra organization. After completing their missions, the teams then sped to the Pit Stop at the Roy Rogers and Dale Evans museum. Barely finishing ahead of their competitors, Jon the Intergalactic Gladiator and the Amazing Nightcrawler again arrived first, winning for the second week in a row.

As before Jon and Nightcrawler get to use a Yield against Henchman, er, I mean on another team of their choice. Jon must simply post the name here and then that team will have their start time delayed by one hour.

Are Jon and Kurt peaking too early? Can they continue their lead on the next leg of the race? Will Gaia return from her mysterious assignment to post in a timely fashion? Can Spider-Man ever recover from the shame of being labeled a quitter? Find out this week on . . the Amazing Mutant Race 3.

This leg of the race starts in Branson, Missouri. Teams must make their way by train or plane and then the provided white SUVs to the Bonneville Salt Flats where they will face their Roadblock. A Roadblock is a challenge only one member of a team may perform.

Do You Like To Get High? One player from each team will board a cargo plane with the Flying Elvi and climb up to 9,000 feet above the Salt Flats. He or she must then skydive, remaining in tight formation, with the team. If the diver does not remain in satisfactory formation as judged by the Elvi, then they must repeat the dive. No flying powers allowed. I’m looking at you Warbird. And you too Vegeta. The team member who does not jump may either wait on the ground or keep their partner company on the plane.

Once the dive has been successfully completed, the Elvi will then give the teams their next clue. The teams must travel by train and car to Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the lobby they will find the instructions for the Detour. A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons. Teams must successfully complete one of the tasks described on the clue in order to receive their next clue. In this Detour, the teams must choose between Star and Lackey.

In Star, the teams will have to stage a head lining act at Casesar’s Palace that night. The audience members will be given electronic grading devices. The act that the team puts on must earn at least three stars out of a possible five or they will have to put on another act for the late show.

In Lackey, the teams will be required to be the personal assistants for Miss Celine Dion for a period of five hours. The team’s duties will include any and everything Celine says they include. If Miss Dion fires the team before the five hours are up, they must then perfom the Star Detour, head lining their own act at the Palace.

Once the Detour is succesfully completed, the teams must then make their way back to the lobby of the hotel where they will find the Pit Stop for this leg of the race.

Jon's five-parter may have triggered an early peak, but my tricorder indicates a 30% chance of continued vim and vigor.

I'll have the most vigorous vims you've ever laid eyes on!

In theory, at least.

Give me a minute to decide on who gets the hold...

Nevermind, I'll just have and extra helping of Ice cream at Roy Roger's Resturant.
